About Us | Dave Piscitello
Dave has been involved in Internet technology for over 40 years. He has authored books on internet and remote access, including Understanding "Voice over Internet Protocol Security" (April 2006). Dave publishes articles regularly on security, DNS, antiphishing, malware, Internet policy, and privacy, in searchNetworking, searchSecurity, ENISA Journal, Enterprise Efficiency, ISSA Journal, USENIX ;login: and Information Week and Dark Reading. He maintains a highly active, insightful, and entertaining info site as The Security Skeptic. His blog has attracted attention worldwide, was mentioned as "A blog worth visiting" in Network World's Security Newsletter, and was nominated for a 2013 Security Bloggers Award for Most Educational Security Blog. Until July 2018 Dave was Vice President for Security and ICT Coordination at ICANN. At ICANN he participated in global collaborative efforts by security, operations, and law enforcement communities to mitigate Domain Name System abuse and malicious uses of Domain names. He also coordinated ICANN's security capacity building programs and represented ICANN in global cybersecurity forums. Dave is a member of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy expert community, a member of the Antiphishing Working Group (APWG) Board of Directors and its Internet Policy Committee, and an invited participant in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Security Expert Group.
